Entry Requirements:
Candidates should have –
(a) (i) Level 3 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or
(ii) Grade E or above in two subjects at Advanced Level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and Level 3 (Note 3) / Grade C or above in three other subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent;
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; and
(c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) (Note 4).
(Remarks: All qualifications required should be obtained on or before the application deadline. Qualifications obtained after the application deadline will not be considered. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about 12 to 16 weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. As invitations will be sent to candidates by email, candidates should provide an accurate email address in their applications. Candidates are responsible for checking their emails to ensure that invitation will be duly received. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.)
Note:
Note 1: For civil service appointment purpose, “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects) in the HKDSEE is accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. Additionally, Grade C in Other Languages subjects in the 2024 HKDSEE or before is accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in HKDSEE. A2 or above in French / German / Spanish; or N3 or above in Japanese; or TOPIK II Grade 3 or above in Korean in the Other Languages subjects in the 2025 HKDSEE and onwards are accepted as equivalent to Level 2/Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.
Note 2: The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.
Note 3: For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Note 4: All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the BLNST is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the BLNST will be considered for appointment. For candidates who have not taken the relevant BLNST or have not attained a pass result in the relevant BLNST at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant BLNST during the recruitment process.
Duties:
A Judicial Clerk is mainly deployed on –
(a) serving as Clerks to Judges / Judicial Officers;
(b) providing support services in court operations and registries (process various applications, handle public enquiries, etc.);
(c) assisting in project development / technology initiatives relating to court operations; and
(d) assisting in the provision of mediation-related services.
Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
General Notes:
(1) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(7) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the Judiciary may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the written examination and/or selection interview.
(8) It is the Government’s policy to place people with disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the specified entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the written examination and/or selection interview without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (9) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
(10) Towards the application deadline, the online system would likely be overloaded due to large volume of applications. To ensure timely completion of your online application, it is advisable to submit the application as early as possible.

Candidates must state in detail in the application forms their full academic qualifications and work experience, including the exact start and end dates of their period(s) of employment. Applicants are reminded to provide a detailed description of the scope of duties and work content for each post in the 'Nature of Work' column. Applications will be processed according to the information provided on the application form, therefore candidates must fill in the application form duly and clearly, including personal particulars, academic attainment and working experience they have attained by the application deadline. Academic qualifications and/or working experience attained after the application deadline will not be assessed.
Applicants must apply online on or before 12 June 2026 (Friday) at 5:00 p.m. (Hong Kong Time) through the G.F. 340 Online Application System of the Civil Service Bureau at www.csb.gov.hk. Applications which are late, incomplete, or not submitted through the G.F. 340 Online Application System of the Civil Service Bureau will NOT be considered.
Applicants are not required to submit any copies of supporting documents related to academic qualification, results of BLNST and documentary proof of working experience at this stage. They may be required to submit copies of the supporting documents and produce the originals for scrutiny at later stages.
