Job Title: Curriculum Officer (Citizenship and Social Development) (EDB/CDI/226/24) 
Salary: $79,930 per month 
Entry Requirements: (a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree majoring in Citizenship and Social Development (CS) related subjects (including but not limited to Chinese History, History, Geography, Economics), or equivalent [See Note (ii)];
(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent [See Note (ii)];
(c) Met the language proficiency requirements of 'Level 2' results in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [see Note (iii)];
(d) At least 6 years' relevant post-qualification [as specified in (a) and (b)] experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in CS related subjects (including but not limited to Chinese History, History, Geography, Economics) (among which at least 2 years of experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in senior secondary CS in Hong Kong as at 30 April 2024) [See Note (iv)];
(e) A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [See Note (v)]; and
(f) Candidates who possess a higher degree (e.g. a second/higher degree) or have experience in curriculum development preferred [See Notes (ii) and (iv)]. 
Note: (i) The application period for the post of Curriculum Officer (Citizenship and Social Development) is from 3 May 2024 (Friday) to 17 May 2024 (Friday).
(ii) Candidates should mark clearly on their application forms the major and minor subjects studied in their degree courses. Candidates possessing additional qualifications (e.g. qualifications stated in part (f) of Entry Requirements) should include details in their applications.
(iii) Candidates' results of the Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) papers in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) are classified as 'Level 2', 'Level 1' or 'Fail', with 'Level 2' being the highest. 'Level 5' or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE); or Grade 'C' or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) are accepted as equivalent to 'Level 2' in the UC paper of the CRE. 'Level 5' or above in English Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade 'C' or above in Use of English of the HKALE; or Grade 'C' or above in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level), are accepted as equivalent to 'Level 2' in the UE paper of the CRE. Applicants with an overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period of the test result is accepted as equivalent to 'Level 2' in the UE paper of the CRE. The IELTS test result must be valid on any date during the application period.
(iv) Candidates should state the nature and relevant post-qualification work experience (e.g. subjects taught, position held, experience stated in parts (d) and (f) of Entry Requirements) as well as the dates of experience.
(v) A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test is an entry requirement for Curriculum Officer jobs in the Education Bureau. All applicants for Curriculum Officer jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. Only those candidates who have passed the Basic Law and National Security Law Test will be considered for appointment.
(vi) Candidates should have a good understanding of the local education system and curriculum reform, as well as knowledge of Citizenship and Social Development curriculum; have good writing skills in Chinese and English, good leadership and interpersonal skills; be responsible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic; have a good character and integrity; and be committed to serving in the education field. 
Duties: (a) To plan, organise and conduct professional development programmes for teachers in support of the implementation of the Citizenship and Social Development (CS) curriculum;
(b) To organise and conduct teacher networks and assist in the implementation of CS Mainland study tours;
(c) To review and develop curriculum resources to support the learning and teaching of CS;
(d) To assist in research and development projects of CS;
(e) To plan and conduct curriculum development visits to support schools in their development and implementation of CS curriculum;
(f) To perform administrative duties related to the day-to-day operation of the Citizenship and Social Development Section;
(g) To implement the curriculum initiatives of Curriculum Development Institute; and
(h) To undertake any other duties assigned. 
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 2.5 years. 
Fringe Benefits (a) 18 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave/paternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
(b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
(c) Other fringe benefits include medical and dental benefits and, where appropriate, housing benefits.
